The Rooney Style 2 Finest felt so good I had to use it again, today with Geo. F. Trumper Sandalwood shaving soap (from before the reformulation): great lather, fine face feel. In working up the lather I had to add water three times, but the extended lather development was beneficial in terms of prep.
Today I used an Astra Keramik Platinum blade, a gift from a generous reader. These blades are no longer made but turn out to be a very good brand for me, and it did seem to work well in the Fine slant. The iKon stainless slant holds a Personna Lab Blue, which I’ve also tried in the Fine slant.
Doing a three-pass shave split (left v. right) between the two razors, I find that the Fine slant has a lot more blade feel and is, for me, not quite so comfortable as the iKon stainless (which, of course, costs much more than the Fine). Both did a good job, however, and neither produced any nick or other problem. They are both qyite efficient.
A good splash of Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements Sandalwood aftershave, and the shave is done. I like starting the say with a smooth face.
