First a new soap from Supply Provision—a tallow soap, as you see. It made a fine lather with the assistance of the Morris & Forndran brush shown, then I picked up the Stringbag razor for another go.
This time I inspected the razor more closely. No, the blade doesn’t slant, in either the vertical or horizontal plane. However, the humped back does slant: on each side it’s close to the edge at one end and farther from the edge at the other, slanting across the top. And the guard also changes its shape across the width of the razor.
I’m not sure of the effect of these asymmetries, but for whatever reason this is a very comfortable and very efficient razor, smooth cutting and easily producing a BBS result. A pleasure in the shave.
A good splash of Phoenix Artisan Cavendish, and I’m ready for the day.
Tomorrow I’ll take a photo of the top of the razor so you can see what I mean.
