I picked out the Omega 20102 boar brush today because a question arose as to whether it worked well for face lathering, and I just wanted to confirm. Yep, it still works quite well for me when I face lather.
Meißner Tremonia’s Black Beer No. 1 has a veyr nice fragrance—not the rosemary and lemongrass included in the mix—and lathers extremely well. Based on the loading, I would guess that this one contains no clay. Let’s see:
Stearic Acid, Cocos nucifera oil*, Beer, Potassium Hydroxide, Orbignya Oleifera oil*, Sodium Hydroxide, Macadamia terifolia oil, Glycerin*, Rosmarinus officinalis leaf oil, Cymbopogon flesuosus oil, Red clay, Talc, Citric Acid, Citral, Simmondsia chinensis oil*, Maris sal, Citronellol, Eugenol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool. *) Organic quality
I’m wrong, I see. But I had to use no additional water, so I was fooled. Perhaps it contains less clay than the formulas that seem to require water added during the loading.
At any rate, the lather was excellent, and with the RazoRock Baby Smooth razor I easily got a BBS shave. I really wish Italian Barber would bring back the Baby Smooth. It’s a fantastically good razor, IMO, and clearly demonstrates how a razor can be both extremely comfortable and extremely efficient.
A good splash of Paul Sebastian’s excellent aftershave, and the weekend is officially launched. Bacon’s now roasting in the oven—place bacon on a rack in foil-lined rimmed baking sheet and roast at 400ºF until crisp. In my oven, thick bacon requires 23-24 minutes.
