Someone commented on Wicked Edge that, although Martin de Candre lathers easily, the lather is not so slick as other lathers. I had not noticed that, so I brought out the MdC to see how it works for me, and I decided to give my Semogue Owners Club a workout. The brush has broken in well and is totally satisfactory, but somehow I still lack the fondness many express for Semogue brushes. But this one is comfortable and did a fine job.

MdC does indeed lather easily, and the brush was quickly loaded. The lather seemed as slick to me as any other lather: perfectly satisfactory and still, to my mind, a really excellent shaving soap.

The prototype X3 is more comfortable for me than the Wunderbar because this X3 does not require the alert attention I must bring still to the Wunderbar. (In time, I may develop a feel for the Wunderbar so that so much conscious attention is required during the shave.) I did a carefree and comfortable three-pass shave, producing a BBS finish and no nicks or other problems.

A good splash of Barrister & Mann’s Fougère Classique, and I’m ready for the death of this work week.
