Sometimes WordPress tricks me and pretends to publish a post that then goes into “Drafts.” Here’s one from yesterday.

This is what shaving should be: like the commercials without the annoying background music and mania. A beard wash following the shower, using Jlocke98′s formula: 1/4 cup liquid Dr. Bronner’s soap, any fragrance, and 2 tsp oil (I’ve used olive oil, emu oil, lanolin oil, and jojoba oil, and they all work. Some are allergic to lanolin, though—but it works well). Shake well before each use, and wash beard at the sink with about 1 tsp, rinsing partially with a splash and then applying lather. I keep mine in a pump bottle. Today was the lanolin oil version, though I’ve been enjoying the emu oil as well. (The olive oil and jojoba oil are good, but the more exotic ingredients are appealing.) I do want to try castor oil, though.

Then the Morris & Forndran made a superb lather from my Otoko Organics—expensive to ship from Australia, so order several tubs to reduce shipping costs per tub. One would make a great gift for a shaving friend.

The bakelite slant holds a previously used Personna Lab Blue blade, and it’s still going strong: very easy action, very smooth result.

A good shake of Kramfert’s Finest, then a good splash onto my face, and I’m set.
