Himalayan Heights has a pleasant fragrance that’s hard to pin down. Maggard Razors describes it as a “woody-spicy scent of Himalayan cedar and Himalayan salt.” The soap is excellent:
Stearic Acid, Cocos nucifera oil*, Aqua, Potassium Hydroxide, Orbignya Oleifera oil*, Sodium Hydroxide, Macadamia terifolia oil, Cedrus deodora oil, Glycerin*, Citric Acid, Talc, Kaolin, Simmondsia chinensis oil*, Himalayan salt, C. I. 77007.
* Organic
Note the clay (kaolin, in this case), which means that you may have to add a driblet or two of water as you load the brush. The Mühle easily made a really excellent lather this morning, and the Fatip Testina Gentile is rapidly becoming a favorite razor: extremely comfortable, never a nick, and extremely efficient—and TVB Shaving has them for $22.35 (since US orders don’t pay VAT). I have ordered three from them (for my grandsons) with no problem. And since the razors are plated brass as well as being top-notch in feel and performance, it’s a great flaming bargain.
Totally smooth result, to which I applied a splash of K.C. Atwood aftershave. The backstory, from the link:
This crisp, citrusy aftershave splash gets its name from America’s citrus pioneer, Kimball Chase Atwood. From humble childhood beginnings as a summer clerk in his father’s general store in Maine, Atwood would go on to operate the largest grapefruit grove in the world. A hunting and fishing trip led him to Florida in the 1890s where he saw an opportunity. With the purchase of 265 acres of land to build his 96 miles of grapefruit upon, the rest became history.
Witch hazel and aloe build a solid foundation for the invigorating grapefruit and sweet orange properties in this aftershave. Sandalwood and hints of lime and coriander bring everything together for a crisp, tightening finish. A couple splashes of this alcohol-free solution on your face after a shave and you’ll feel invigorated, ready to start your day fresh.
It feels a little odd without the hit of alcohol coolness, but it does seem refreshing and pleasant and (oddly) kind.
A great way to start the holidays. I’ll soon be putting the rack of ribs in a 200ºF oven for 4-5 hours. Our favorite is to sprinkle with Penzeys Bicentennial Rub.
