The Simpson Duke 3 Best is a fine stubby brush, and in loading it with Meißner Tremonia’s Natural Bay Rum I added small amounts of water three times to get a fully loaded brush. How much water to add and when to add it is learned by experience, but with experience it is obvious when more water is needed or too much water is used.
MT’s Natural Bay Rum has a very nice bay rum fragrance that is quite present—intense, in fact. It really wakes up the morning. It’s my favorite bay rum shaving soap these days.
Three passes with the RazoRock Baby Smooth left a result that lived up to the name, and a splash of TOBS Bay Rum finished the job. The TOBS aftershave’s fragrance seemed muted, but perhaps that ws in comparison to the soap. This, BTW, is the only aftershave that leaked during the move. The lid was screwed firmly on, but apparently does not make a good seal. (I packed the aftershaves individually in bubble-wrap and then placed them in a plastic tub lined with a garbage bag, so the leak did no actual damage.)
