Chuck Falzone talked me into getting the Barrister & Mann Reserve Lavender shaving soap, and I’m glad he did. The Reserve shaving soaps I’ve tried (this one and the spice) have an odd and interesting lather in the loading that forms sort of strands, almost gel-like. But the resulting lather on the stubble is extremely nice in consistency and performance, and the fragrance is very pleasant.
I used my recent acquisition, the RazoRock Keyhole synthetic (a bargain at $10), and once well-lathered set to work with the RazoRock Stealth. It did a fine job, easily stripping stubble and leaving a BBS result.
A good splash of D.R. Harris Old English Lavender Water, and the shave is complete. The Lavender Water strikes me as an excellent aftershave in feel and fragrance.
The weekend begins. Today is the launch of two local whiskies, Glen Saanich (a single-malt whisky, Saanich being the town just up the road) and Ancient Grains, and we’re driving to the distillery to pick up a bottle of each.
