I got the most amazingly good lather this morning from QED’s glycerin-based shaving soap, whose maker, alas, retired some years ago. (Mama Bear still offers glycerin-based soaps that are quite good—I may have to get a couple—and Col. Conk’s shaving soaps are also glycerin based but with a severe paucity of fragrances compared to Mama Bear.) The fragrance was good, but the lather itself bowled me over, and perhaps some credit should be given to the Grooming Co.’s brush I used.
Three passes with the iKon X3 slant, here mounted on a UFO handle, left my face beautifully smooth. There’s some mysterious magic in how shaving a two-stubble often seems to produce a better result than shaving a one-day stubble.
A tiny squirt of Hermès Eau d’orange verte left my skin very happy. And now off for a fasting blood draw.
