Barrister & Mann’s Reserve shaving soaps make an unusual lather. The ingredients are:
Potassium Stearate, Glycerin, Aqua, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Potassium Tallowate, Potassium Safflowerate, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Milk, Sodium Stearate, Ricinus communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Sucrose Cocoate, Sodium Lactate, Fragrance, Tocopherol Acetate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Safflowerate, Linalool, D-Limonene, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol
The reason is hidden in the names I don’t recognize, no doubt. Still, it was a good lather and I like the fragrance. It may be that my G.G. Kent BK4 was not the right choice and that a denser brush will do better. I’ll try one of my Plissoft synthetics and see what happens.
RaozRock’s Game Changer (the original, since it now comes also with a different blade gap) did a fine job, and a splash of D.R. Harris Old English Lavender water finished the shave on a fine note.
Another very good night’s sleep without the nightlight from the phone. A dark room works better than a dimly lit room: when I wake up, I fall easily back into my dreams. Good to know.
