A commenter yesterday reminded me of the Wilkinson shave stick, which is excellent (unlike their shaving soap in a tub, which I found not very good). I used the Wee Scot because it still tickles me that the brush (at least those made prior to Vulfix’s takeover of Simpson) hold plenty of lather for all passes: with a shaving stick, brush capacity becomes desirable (though of course if necessary you can reload the brush directly on the stick). The blue soap provides a blue tint to the face before the lather’s worked up.
RazoRock’s Old Type is an excellent razor. I noticed as I rinsed between passes how very slick my face felt: Wilkinson shave stick is definitely worth a try, and I’m not going to let it get pushed to the back of the shelf again. Three passes left my face totally smooth, and a nice splash of Chatillon Lux’s Champ de Lavande finished the job.
