Barrister & Mann’s Reserve shaving soaps, as I’ve mentioned, have a rather different lather—good, but different and apparently best with a synthetic brush, which is why I chose my Mühle gen 2 synthetic this morning to use with Reserve Lavender. The reason for the difference may be the ingredients:
Potassium Stearate, Glycerin, Aqua, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Potassium Tallowate, Potassium Safflowerate, Cocos nucifera (Coconut) Milk, Sodium Stearate, Ricinus communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Sucrose Cocoate, Sodium Lactate, Fragrance, Tocopherol Acetate, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Sodium Tallowate, Sodium Safflowerate, Linalool, D-Limonene, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol
I did indeed get a superb lather, and the Rockwell 6S with the R3 baseplate did its usual wonderful job: a comfortable shave leaving a totally smooth result.
A splash of D.R. Harris Old English Lavender Water finished the job, and the day’s off to a great start.
