It was my memory, not the formula: CK-6 is unchanged

On Saturday I used one of my Phoenix Artisan shaving soaps with the CK-6 formula (scroll down at the link) and was surprised at how very excellent the lather was. It was so good that I didn’t recall a recent lather that nice, though I had used some of my other CK-6 soaps (though not for a while). So I decided to use my most recent CK-6 soap today to compare, back to back, the lathers from the very early batch (I think perhaps the first batch) and a much more recent batch. I did use the same brush, since that has a definite effect (and I have to admit that my good synthetics seem to be a better job than my good badger brushes).

Well, the problem was not with the soap, it was with my memory and my becoming accustomed to the lather I get from other soaps. One adjusts to the quotidian, and outliers fade from memory.

But Saturday’s shave was eye-opening, and today’s lather was equally excellent. Really, I have to recommend strongly that you try one of Phoenix Artisan’s CK-6 soaps. Thanks to Craig’s comment on Saturday’s SOTD post, I just sent The Son a tub of Scentsless (love the name) CK-6 soap. (He prefers unscented soaps). The soaps really are remarkable. The regular formula (I have Solstice, for example, in the regular formula) is perfectly fine, but the CK-6 formula is extraordinary.

One pass with the 102 and I decided a new blade was needed. I popped in a Gillette 7 O’Clock SharpEdge (yellow package) and the next two passes were noticeably easier

A good splash of Dapper Doc’s Old Time Lilac & Fig Aftershave & Cologne, and I’m raring to go.
