Strong ‘n Scottish, the iKon 102, and a look back at _stringbag_’s slant

Phoenix Artisan’s Starcraft is another example of the pleasant variation in coloring possible with synthetic brushes, and this one is very nice, for all that it’s 24mm size is about 2mm too large for my taste. The color he denotes as “Roswell grey,”  tip of the hate to UFOs and Area 51 in Roswell NM.

Strong ‘n Scottish is indeed both strong and Scottish — scotch whiskey and sheep-wool fat (i.e., lanolin) are as Scottish as barley and bad weather. The lather this morning was exception, and the superb iKon 102 did a wonderful job, converting a rough two-day stubble to a silky smoothness. A good splash of Mr. Taylor’s Gentleman’s Aftershave Lotion completed the job.

Another wonderful slant, a one-off made by stringbag of Wicked Edge, came to mind, and I recalled with great fondness my experience with it (check out the links below). I had hopes that it might be picked up for production and I even suggested to Rockwell that they might want to license the design, but nothing ever came of it. It’s as though the Wright brothers enjoyed their flight in their handmade powered flying machine, then put it back in the garage and took it out occasionally for their own enjoyment. It really was a fine razor, and I would love to see someone license the design and manufacture it — in brass, in particular. A gold-plated brass head of that design would be sensational, IMO.
