In one of my final exhanges on Reddit’s Wicked Edge subreddit, I posted about my positive experiences with Van Yulay shaving soaps and how the ingredients, always interesting, varied from soap to soap, and how they offered a broad range of fragrances and sold nicely packaged samples. I got a strongly critical comment in response, condemning the soaps. I asked what was it about the soaps that he did not like, and he said that he had never tried them, and they he didn’t have to try them to know what they were like. Apparently he also judged books by their covers.
At any rate Achilles is a favorite, and now I see the bottom of the tub looking back at me. I have enough for a while longer, though. With Italian Barber’s Keyhole shaving brush — and a thorough loading — I got a wonderful lather, and then the iKon Shavecraft 101 did its job. A splash of Achilles aftershave — also interesting ingredients — and the day is launched.
