I was asked yesterday about the two brushes shown: a Chubby 1 and a Duke 3, both in Best. (I did try a Chubby in Super and didn’t care for it.) As you can see, the Duke has a somewhat greater loft, which I could definitely feel on my face—and for me, the longer loft worked better. Both are excellent brushes, but I easily prefer the Duke.
And the lather for both was excellent: sumptuous and long-lasting. Prairie-Creations.com makes a fine shaving soap, and I enjoy this one. The pipe tobacco fragrance is of a sweeter sort of pipe tobacco, but quite pleasant in a shaving soap if not a pipe.
Three passes with the Progress—and I might as well plainly state that the Progress is by far the best of the Merkur adjustable razors (i.e., better than the Futur and the Vision) and is the best adjustable razor currently made.
I splashed some Captain’s Choice Bay Rum on my BBS face and will now set about to enjoy the day.
