I was going to do 3 Gillette Super Adjustable shaves in a row, but I got distracted. So this is the belated third, and a very fine shave it was.
First, the prep was a pleasure. It struck me this morning that the feel of the HJM (in today’s shave, version 1.0) is very much like the feel of the Ecotools Finishing Kabuki: a wonderful softness—combined with excellent performance in making and holding lather. Indeed, the HJM gets the edge, mainly because it was intended as a shaving brush and thus has a bit better loft and shape.
At any rate, the asses’ milk shaving soap delivered a wonderful lather, as usual, and the Gillette short-handled Super Adjustable with a Kai blade did a perfect job. I have to say that the long-handled version feels somewhat better in my hand than the short-handled version. I imagine that the razor was designed (and balanced) for the long-handled version, with the short-handled model offered for those whose bathroom is small (or whose preference is for short handles).
