You perhaps have noticed that I have (and use) a great variety of shaving soaps. I thus resist as best as I can buying a new soap, but this morning I succumbed once more and ordered a tub of Tallow + Steel Cognac shaving soap.
In the past few days I used two Tallow + Steel shaving soaps: Dark (“coffee, cocoa, ginger, and vetiver, combined with the sweetness of peppermint and benzoin”) and Grog (“West Indies bay, Key lime, labdanum, white fir, rosemary, and ylang ylang”). Not only are the fragrances appealing (and very present even to my somewhat insensitive nose), the lather is really excellent.
Tallow + Steel seems to abandon a fragrance profile after its first season — no perennials there — so when I saw this one, I thought I’d leap on it. You can read details at the link — at least until the page is retired — but I’ll quote the fragrance profile:
Cognac (38%) | Oakwood (21%) | Vanilla (18%) | Orange (8%) | Tobacco (7%) | Cocoa (6%) | Jasmine (2%) | 100% natural aromatic extracts from botanicals.
And their current soap formula is worth noting as well:
Shave Soap Version 3: Stearic Acid + Water + Organic Argan Oil + Organic Glycerin + Organic Castor Oil + Organic Safflower Oil + Potassium Hydroxide + Tallow (Pasture-Raised) + Organic Coconut Oil + Bentonite Clay + Sodium Hydroxide + Vitamin E + Silk + Natural Fragrance (Botanical Extracts)
They offer a matching aftershave, and a discount if you buy the soap and aftershave together.
