The brush is an old Sabini with an ebony handle, and the loft is much more to my taste than the shorter lofts like the Cola’s 50mm. Measuring it, I would say it’s 55-56mm. A silvertip badger knot, it was a pleasure to load from Meißner Tremonia’s Black Beer No. 1, and the lather was wonderful in consistency and in fragrance and in overall pleasure, from loading to working up the lather to applying to supporting a good shave.
The Holy Black’s SR-71 slant’s head is a clone of the Merkur 37, but the thick, heavy brass handle provides more momentum than one gets from the 37. By being careful about angle, I got a very comfortable shave with an exceptionally smooth result.
A splash of La Toja’s Hombre aftershave — in this case, I suppose, El Hombre in black — finished the shave. The day here is pretty grey, but a shave like this warms the cockles of the heart.
