Barrister & Mann’s Reserve formula shaving soap (today the Spice fragrance), like Phoenix Artisan’s CK-6 formula on Saturday, started loading immediately with the almost-dry brush (and I followed B&M’s suggestion of using a synthetic knot for this soap). I made a few very small additions of water, and with the brush fully loaded, coated my stubble with the fragrant and thick proto-lather.
I then added a dollop of water (1 dollop is an amount equal to 3 driblets) to the center of the brush and briskly brushed my face to bring up the lather. That worked extremely well.
The marvellous Merkur vintage white slant did its usual great job. I used very light pressure and moved the razor somewhat briskly, and in three passes easily achieved perfect smoothness with no damage.
A splash of Reserve Spice aftershave, balmified with a squirt of Hydrating Gel, finished the shave. What a great way to start the week.
