This is an older shaving soap from Phoenix Artisan, using a formula that pre-dates the Kokum formula (still available, though the CK-6 formula is the flagship formula: better, but also more expensive). Although this is a simpler soap from an earlier time, it does an excellent job, and the honeysuckle fragrance is most welcome on this cold, wintry, rainy morning.
My Rooney Style 2 Finest silveritip badger brush has a long loft (50mm, I believe) of very resilient bristles, which give it a very nice feel on the face. It worked up an excellent lather quickly and easily, and the shave with Fine’s aluminum slant was totally wonderful. It’s a great shave this razor is no longer available, since it’s one of the best slants I’ve ever used. It was somewhat costly, but in terms of feel and performance and design, worth every penny. Maybe it will someday return, though I’m not holding my breath. However, if Fine Accoutrements should ever bring it back, I’m getting another as a back-up (or special gift).
The result of this morning’s shave, beyond the pleasure of the experience, is an extremely smooth face: two-day stubble removed by a good slant.
