A late start this weekend, but a great shave when I got to it. In an earlier post, I list the ingredients of this soap, their Bison formula, and also their newer Milksteak formula. The Milksteak is better, but the Bison is really excellent — we’re discussing degrees of “superb” here.

This brush is either horsehair or boar, and in either case requires soaking, so soak it I did, and I was rewarded with extremely good performance and a plethora of great, dense, fragrant lather.

This Dorco PL602 is one of my best razors, in terms of performance, efficiency, and cost. You can see in the photo the extreme curvature it puts on the blade, which I believe is one reason for its excellence. Three passes left my face as smooth as shaving a two-day stubble with a good slant.

A splash of Chatillon Lux’s aftershave toner, and the weekend at last begins.

I am having now a mug of Murchie’s Baker Street Blend, which I like a lot. It’s a blend of Lapsang Souchong, Keemun, Ceylon, Gunpowder, and Jasmine. Murchie’s seems frequently to blend black and green tea, as they do here — for example, their No. 10 Blend, another excellent tea, is also a black and green blend: “Gunpowder and Jasmine greens and Keemun and Ceylon black teas.”
