A late and lazy morning, puttering through various first-of-the-month routines, among them reading my letter to FutureMe from a year ago and writing a letter to FutureMe of a year hence, always an interesting exercise.
The shave was similarly mellow and reflective. Lavender is a classic shaving fragrance, at least in Britain, and this Meißner Tremonia lavender is indeed “de Luxe.” I was sparing of the water, so the brush when loaded had a very thick and creamy start on the lather. I added just a little as I worked up the lather on my face, and then the excellent Edwin Jagger head, here mounted on a comfortable stainless-steel handle, did a superb job.
A splash of D.R. Harris Old English Lavender Water, with a squirt of Grooming Dept Hydrating Gel, finished the job, leaving my face exceptionally smooth and fragrant.
The tea this morning is Murchie’s No. 10, named after the UK Prime Minister’s residence address. It’s unusual in being a green and black blend: “a mild, sweet combination of Gunpowder and Jasmine greens and Keemun and Ceylon black teas.” This blend originated more than 100 years ago, and I will verify that it is remarkably good and pleasing.
