Summer Storm, like yesterday’s Sherlock, produces a superb lather easily — and the fragrance is wonderful: “Moist earth, oak moss, cut grass, pine needles, orange, lemon, ozone, white jasmine, lily of the valley, geranium and musk.” And would add petrichor to the list of fragrances (though I imagine that is what they are calling “ozone”).
My RazoRock Adjust adjustable razor is amazing — in feel (extremely comfortable and totally nonthreatening), in performance (highly efficient), in maneuverability (although it looks large, it is comfortable in the hand and is nimble around the mouth and jawline), and in price (Italian Barber sells it for $15). It’s a rebranded Baili DB197, and I was wondering how such a good razor — for me it’s better than the classic Gillette adjustables (Fat Boy, Slim Handle, and Super Adjustable). I think it must be that today design engineers have the benefit of computers. Computer-aided design, including 3-D modeling, allows rapid iteration and clear visualization, and then computer-aided manufacturing can take the computer-based design directly into metal with CNC machining. These razors are not machined, of course ($15), but the molds used in manufacturing certainly are, and those molds can now be better designed and better machined, and that pays off in an excellent adjustable razor (at low cost).
Three passes to perfection, and a splash of Summer Storm aftershave with a squirt of Hydrating Gel, and I’m off to a good (albeit late) start.
The tea this morning is Murchie’s Hairy Crab Oolong: “Named for its leaves, which are serrated like a hairy crustacean, this oolong is delicate, refreshing and incredibly fragrant. An excellent introductory oolong.”
