I had noticed that I was not using the iKon Slant so often as I expected, and that after an initial very positive experience I had started to encounter nicks. When a commenter mentioned his own difficulties, it seemed a good idea to focus on the iKon Slant for a while and see if I can figure it out.
First, though, the lather: The Omega R&B brush, now well broken in and continually getting better, made a very fine lather from Dr. Selby’s 3x Concentrated Shaving Cream: pleasant and plentiful.
The iKon Slant, holding a newish Gillette Super Thin blade, did an excellent job: BBS finish, one tiny nick on upper lip, something that might happen in any shave. I focused on using very light pressure—less than the weight of the razor—and keeping a shallow angle. Result: excellence.
A splash of Geo. F. Trumper Spanish Leather aftershave, and the week begins.
