Rustler’s Ridge and Hairy Crab

A small siltertip badger shaving brush with white handle bearing the name "Emperor" stand next to a tub of shaving soap whose label shows a gunman's profile in foreground and a stagecoach in the background, backlit by fire, with the name "Rustler's Ridge." Nexis a rectangular transparent glass bottle with a black cap and the same label. In front, lying on its side, is a matte finish stainless steel DE razor.

Rustler’s Ridge products have now gone to the Great Roundup in the Sky and no longer are available here on earth. I do like the fragrance (and of course, the CK-6 formula):

Top Notes Madagascar Vanilla Bean, Ozone, Prickly Pear
Heart Notes Sage, Animalic Musk
Base Notes Spruce, Cedar

The Simpson Emperor 2 Super made a great lather, and my Feather AS-D1 stainless razor did its usual fine job. This was one of the very first stainless razors to come to market. It is made of sintered steel rather than the now more common machining of bar stock. The Rockwell 6S also uses sintering to create the razor head with the process Metal Injection Molding (MIM). (Rockwell first tried to cast stainless steel, which failed. As I understand it, casting stainless steel does not work because the steel shrinks too much as it solidifies.)

At any rate, the Feather razor with a Feather blade did a fine job, and a splash of Rustler’s Ridge aftershave, augmented with a couple of squirts of Grooming Dept’s Aion Hydrating Gel, finished the job.

The tea this morning is Murchie’s Hairy Crab Oolong: “Named for its leaves, which are serrated like a hairy crustacean, this oolong is delicate, refreshing, and incredibly fragrant. Delicate and refreshing, this semi-fermented Oolong tea has a lovely ripe peach overtone and a fragrance comparable to that of Jasmine.”
