Monday morning shaves are always good — two-day stubble — but today’s was exceptional on several counts. First was using my Omega Pro 48, a superb brush despite its modest price. Mine is now well broken in and has exceptionally good feel and performance. It was easy to load with 345 Soap Company’s Aces over 8s shaving soap, which has an excellent formula and whose fragrance appeals to me: “Tobacco, Mint, Rose, Sandalwood, Vanilla, Cedar, Patchouli, Vetiver, Tonka bean.”
Stearic Acid, Beef Tallow, Milks of Donkey, Camel, & Goat, Shea butter, Coconut oil, Palm oil, Potassium hydroxide, Distilled water, Castor oil, Sodium hydroxide, Glycerin, Grapeseed oil, Cocoa butter, Yogurt, Jojoba oil, Capuaça butter, Murumuru butter, Kokum butter, Panthenol, Allantoin, Hydrolyzed Silk Protein, Fragrance.
The lather was outstanding in every respect, and my Phoenix Artisan El Fantasma double-slant safety razor is amazing: lightweight, extremely comfortable and non-threatening in feel (though perhaps not so much in appearance), extraordinarily efficient (because of the extreme slant), and it glows in the dark. I don’t know what more I could ask — oh, right: that it not be costly…. and lo! it is but $27. I think that’s a great, glow-in-the-dark bargain. (If you don’t need the glow-in-the-dark feature, other models are available.)
The online catalog quotes me. I received nothing in return. I gave permission for the quote because I was so impressed with the razor. If you”ve tried one of the double slants, I’d be interested in your take.
Three passes produced a true BBS result, and a splash of Aces over 8s aftershave finished the job and launched the week.
The tea this morning is Murchie’s Library Blend: “Ceylon, Jasmine, Keemun, and Gunpowder teas.”
