A very fine shave indeed. Honeybee Soaps made Fresh Lemon at my request some years back, and I even got to test some sample batches. The first were more like lemon candy or lemon pudding: a kind of sweet confectionery fragrance, like lemon custard. But the final product has exactly the fragrance of fresh lemon, refreshing on a summer day. The Wee Scot did a fine job with this shaving soap, easily holding plenty of lather for the entire shave.
My Eclipse Red Ring has been away for a while. The nickel plat had worn thin, particularly on the head, and the underlying brass was visible in spots. So Razor Emporium replated it in rhodium, and it now looks stunning. I used a new Personna Lab Blue blade and got a perfect shave: BBS with no nicks. The Eclipse Red Ring is really a very nice little razor. The guard is like an open-comb but with a reinforcement bar attached to the back of the teeth. I do need to get some red paint and refresh the red ring just above the base. (Among other nice touches, this razor has a magnet embedded in the base, very helpful in picking up a razor blade from the countertop.)
