A BBS shave that I didn’t expect—always a nice surprise. Still, I did everything in my power to make it happen, so it’s not as though it was a complete accident. First a pre-shave beard wash with MR GLO, then I worked up an extremely nice lather using the Omega R&B brush—still a wonderfully soft brush on the face and now quite hospitable to lather—from the Speick shaving soap, for which I thank Eddie from Australia, who also directed my attention to Gillette Rubie Platinum Plus blades, one of which is in the Apollo razor shown, which is available for about $30 from Amazon.com.
The razor has a heavy stainless steel handle of comfortable dimensions, and the head is a pot-metal knockoff of the Edwin Jagger head, near as I can tell, but it’s well done and shaves well. The logo on top of the cap is more printed than engraved. You don’t feel it in shaving, and it does look good.
Three passes, and as I rubbed on a dab of D.R. Harris After Shaving Milk I realized that this was a very fine BBS shave with no nicks or burn. Very good way to ready myself for the upcoming weekend.
