I liked the Tcheon Fung Sing shaving soap (BullgooseShaving.net carries that), so when I saw Tcheon Fung Sing shaving cream at RoyalShave.com, I was intrigued enough to buy a tub. As you see, it is the sort of firm shaving cream (cf. Figaro, Proraso, et al.) that Italians seem to like. I used my new Wet Shaving Products Stubby HMW and quickly got a very nice lather—but: first pass only. By the second pass the lather was almost gone, and for the third pass I reloaded the brush with Bathhouse Soapery’s Rum & Tobacco shaving soap. The brush, BTW, is very nice indeed.
I’m not sure why the cream gave such a poor performance. Their soap worked well. At some later date I’ll try again with another brush.
The Eclipse Red Ring’s performance, in contrast, was excellent. With a Kai blade I achieved a very nice BBS shave three passes. A rinse, and a spray or two of Guerlain Vol de Nuit, and let the weekend begin!
