SOTD 10 Dec 2014

This morning I realized that the R&B brush shown, an exceptional Omega boar brush, has a Christmas-themed handle: the red and green traditional colors of Christmas (holly berries and leaves, for example, or poinsettas), along with the white of the snow. As Gary Gwynn of Shoebox Shaveshop commented a few days ago:

The brush was mainly designed by Zach with lots of input & tweaks from the Facebook R&B group. After the special run of 200 was done, Omega liked it so much they put it into their production line-up with standard Omega badging as the 71276. We still have a few of the R&B specials if anyone is interested. Great performer, limited edition & quite a nice collectible addition to any classy Shave Den :)

You can find the R&B brush here. Mine was lathercidal the few few shaves, but then whatever substance was killing the lather washed away with use, and by the end of the first week it was a favorite brush: very soft and nice on the face.

The lather was extremely good. With boar brushes, I do an extended loading, and the creaminess of the lather was pleasing.

Three passes with the iKon Shavecraft #102 slant, one of the best of the new slants, and I was rewarded with a nick-free BBS face. The blade was a Personna Lab Blue of a few uses.

A tiny dab of D.R. Harris After Shaving Milk, a very nice aftershave for cold, dry winter weather, and the day is well launched.
