A really superb shave today, thanks perhaps in part to the two-day stubble. Shower, wash beard with MR GLO, rinse partially with a splash, and then rub the D.R. Harris shave stick against the grain all over my beard. I’ve come to like lavender-fragranced shaving soaps more and more: a classic, calm, and manly scent. You’ll note why I often take the Harris shave stick on trips: very compact, and the soap is well protected by the cap. A minor inconvenience is that the cap has little headroom, so you always have to twist the soap up to use it, and retract it to replace the cap, but that really is minor.
The Omega brush is a badger, not the Mixed Midget (badger and boar), and it does a fine job. I wet it well, gave it a good shake, and brushed my beard briskly, and lo! the lather appeared. I worked it up and into my beard, then added a driblet of hot water to the brush and worked that in all over my beard, which brought the lather to the point of perfection.
The razor shown is the first slant iKon made, and it’s a great razor. It requires light pressure, of course, but with light pressure and a good brand of blade it’s flawless. Without trying I achieved a perfect BBS result without the trace of a nick: light pressure, remember.
A good splash of Chiseled Face’s Sherlock, and I’m looking forward to the week.
