Two requests: compare RazoRock’s artificial badger to one of the angel-hair synthetics, and to compare the Weber DLC to to the Wolfman WR1=SB (the bar-guard version).
I used my rapidly dwindling tub of Otoko Organics (but I have a back-up tub ready), and I got a fine lather with both brushes. Indeed, it was hard to detect any substantial difference: both are quite efficient, both feel good on the face. The Chiseled Face angel-hair (on the right in the photo) felt slightly more smooth and cushion-y, but that is probably simply because the knot is slightly larger and also denser. Both work fine and feel fine. And Otoko once again produced a very nice lather indeed.
The two razors had a somewhat different feel—the DLC coating on the Weber has a smooth, pleasant “pull” on the face—but I detect no real difference in performance: both razors give a first-rate shave. The head of the Wolfman feels less bulky, but that’s mainly because it is: the cap is thinner and somewhat flatter. Once again, there’s little to choose between the two: they both extremely comfortable and extremely efficient. (You’ll notice, though, that I replaced the DLC’s original handle with a UFO handle.)
I caved and bought the Esbjerg aftershave gel and used it this morning with pleasure.
