An Australian reader (hi, Eddie) asked me to devote some shaves to travel-oriented kit—shave sticks and small brushes, for example.
So I’m beginning today with the Simpson Case, which was known as the Wee Scot 3 at a time when the current Wee Scot was known as the Wee Scot 2 and there was an even smaller brush called—wait for it!—the Wee Scot 1, a brush now discontinued.
The Case has a travel tube available, shown in photo, and I got both the brush and the travel tube (sold separately) from ShavePlace.com. I have indeed use the Case for travel, and it does a fine job.
The shaving cream is not really a travel item, but rather a sample of Meißner Tremonia’s shaving paste (cream), this one in lavender. I love the little tub, and I had no problem loading the brush. The paste/cream is somewhat firm, but still like a cream.
A very nice and fragrant lather resulted, though I confess I continue to prefer soaps, and I set to work with the 1940’s Gillette Aristocrat, which is like a hefty US Super Speed with more ornate design. This is a very fine razor—the same as used on the cover of my Guide—and I easily got a BBS result in three passes.
A splash of Saint Charles Shave Dark Rose, and I look forward to the weekend.
