A very fine shave indeed. The Mühle travel brush shown is my favorite of travel brushes (other than small regular brushes). It is extremely well designed, and several types of knots are available: synthetic, silvertip badger, and the plain (but comfortable and effective) badger shown in the photo. I particular like the way the brush side faces the large opening when the brush is in travel mode. (I also got the nickel-plated brass Mühle travel brush, and it is enormous—not what you want in a travel brush—and poorly designed.)
Mama Bear makes a good variety of shave sticks, and I get a wonderful lather from them. This morning’s lather was particularly good—there’s nothing wrong with a good glycerin-based shaving soap. I very much like the Spellbound Woods fragrance, and with the lather itself of high quality, I was quite happy with that part of the shave.
The Gillette President seems to have much the same head as the 1940s Aristocrat, and the shave was BBS with a little polishing. The razor shown has been replated with rhodium, thus the extra-snazzy appearance. (The original plating was nickel.)
A good splash of Anthony Gold’s Red Cedar aftershave, and all is well. Aftershave samples are a good travel thing: they hold enough for at least a week’s shaves, and they do not run afoul of TSA guidelines.
A great start to any day.
