A very nice shave indeed. The little Vie-Long horsehair brush shown worked quite well. For one thing, I remembered to wet the knot well before I took my shower. For another, I have long thought that brushes without the dyed stripe (whether boar or horsehair) generally work better than those treated with the dye.
At any rate I quickly got an excellent lather from the Prairie Creations Barbershop shave stick. I’ve found Prairie Creations soaps to be excellent and do recommend them. The lather was quick, abundant, fragrant, and slick, and the little Vie-Long brush held plenty for a three-pass shave.
It’s Monday = 2-day stubble = slant razor, and thus the iKon Shavecraft #102 came out to play. It is such a comfortable razor for me, and after the second pass my face felt mostly smooth. Still, the third pass added polish and a totally satisfactory experience and result.
A squirt of the Esbjerg aftershave gel, and the shave is complete. Note: a full squirt is too much. Half a squirt at most is about right.
