I like the fragrance of Van Yulay’s Artemis quite a bit, but loading was difficult: my Omega 21762 requires some vigorous brushing to load properly, and the small sample puck came loose from the bottom of the container and simply spun around. I put my thumb on it to hold it in place and was able to load reasonably well, though I did have to return to the puck before the last pass. Tomorrow I’ll use this same brush with a full tub of Van Yulay soap, Achilles, and verify that the problem was puck size and mobility.
For all that, once the brush was loaded, the lather was quite nice and I do like the Artemis fragrance. And The Holy Black’s slant did a good job, except that I got a few very tiny nicks—not weepers, exactly, but tiny nicks—on flat places where I would normally never get a nick. My Nik Is Sealed easily closed them, but I take that as an indication that the blade has reached the end of its life. I’ve noticed that at the end of useful life some blades will start to tug and how difficulty in cutting while others will produce the little shower of nicks. So I changed the blade following the shave.
A splash of Annik Goutal’s Eau de Sud, and the day begins.
I got a request to do another video, of the full shave, but I’m unsure about that. It strikes me as around 5-6 minutes of boring video.
