The Mühle synthetic shown was at the time called “artificial badger,” an effort to mimic the feel of badger with a synthetic fiber. It does a pretty good job of that, and in any case is a fine brush that had no trouble working up a good lather from Chiseled Face’s Summer Storm shaving soap, selected this morning because we’re having a winter storm: rain, no sleet or ice. (The temperature outside is 53ºF, which feels quite cold to us on the Central Coast.)
Three passes with the RazoRock Old Type, which I find to be an excellent razor, both very comfortable (and not inclined to nick) and very efficient. Given its relatively low price ($15 for the complete razor, $8 for the head alone), it’s a very good choice for a first-time DE shaver.
Three passes, totally smooth finish, no problems at all. A good splash of Summer Storm aftershave, and the day is well begun.
