BBS again today. Keep shaving long enough and BBS becomes a frequent outcome. Very nice lather from Simpson Emperor 3 Super working with Prairie Creations tallow+lanolin soap. Then the shave. Shown are two razors, each sporting a UFO handle. The one I used lies across the tub of soap: a polished Weber head holding an Astra Superior Platinum blade on the UFO Colibri handle (I believe that’s the Colibri). In front of the soap is an Edwin Jagger head on a different UFO handle. I have become aware that very small differences in the machining give quite a different look and feel, once you actually look carefully. If you click the image a couple of times, you’ll see in the magnified picture that the cross-checks within the spiral are at different angles, producing a difference appearance and texture.
The machining is quite nice to feel: it lacks the harsh sharpness of plain old diamond chequering, and it looks more elegant as well. Study the magnified views and you soon will see the difference. Colibri (“Hummingbird”) does indeed seem lighter and more delicate.
Three passes with no problems, a good splash of Booster Oriental Spice, and I am a happy camper.
