That’s my Rod Neep brush, and a fine brush it is. Meißner Tremonia’s Black Beer No. 1, like all the Meißner Tremonia shaving soaps and shaving pastes, made a very fine lather. The soaps all contain clay of one type or another, but loading the brush was a snap—I think I’ve learned the trick, whatever it is. (See Strangers to Ourselves: Discovering the Adaptive Unconscious for details.)
I’m testing a new brand of blade for a vendor, and I promised not to reveal vendor or blade, but there’s no reason you should not know this is a test shave. With the mystery brand loaded into my RazoRock Old Type, I found the shave quite good. I had indeed used the Phoenix Artisan Ver. 2 Cube (not the original version) as the preshave soap, and I had taken my time with the lathering, and the result was a smooth and easy shave with no problems and a very smooth result.
A good splash of Wild Coast’s Eau de Lavande, and the day is launched.
Health note: My blood glucose was quite high today, doubtless a delayed response to my dietary transgressions on the trip. Lesson learned. Again.
I’m sure things will get back in line quickly with my more careful diet at home, and already I’ve started shedding the trip pounds I added.
