Cuppa Joe, Good Brush, Great Shave (with a slant, natch)

I like this RazoRock 400 brush, and this morning I noticed that the handle works quite well when held by a slick and soapy hand. The knot is a fine-bristled Plissoft synthetic, and the lather it created from Mystic wWater Cuppa Joe and rich and redolent of morning-coffee aroma. (I may not drink coffee, but I do love its aroma.)

Three passes with RazoRock’s clone of the Merkur 37 head, the German 37. This is an instance in which the clone bests the original: though the feel on the face and the performance in the shave are the same, the German 37 has the great benefit of a three-piece design, so (a) you can buy the head by itself and use it on a handle you own, and (b) you can swap handles as you choose. As it happens, the original handle provided, a bit longer and not quite so thick as the Merkur 37 handle, suits me fine, so those advantages for me are somewhat theoretical (though in the case of the Parker Semi-Slant, I did indeed change the handle, the original being too long for me).

Three passes erased my two-day stubble, and a splash of Phoenix Artisan’s Spring-Heeled Jack continued the coffee theme. That aftershave is currently not available, but it may return.

What a great way to start the week!
