Organism 46-B and the Emperor

I thought that with Organism 46-B’s upcoming departure from the scene, I should visit it again. I really do like this fragrance, but fragrances are notoriously YMMV. Still, if you’d like to try it, you should act quickly — it’s on Phoenix Artisan’s discontinued list.

Again this morning I enjoyed that fragrance, and I also noticed that my Simpson Emperor 3 Super, though an excellent brush, has a knot that is somewhat larger than I find optimal. Again, YMMV: some like a large knot, others like a smaller knot. The Emperor does have a good loft and excellent lather capacity.

I’ve noted that my brush preferences have drifted over the years, as preferences do, and for now they’ve settled at 20-22mm knot diameter. This preference drift, which is common over the years, is why I like the Rockwell 6S razor: the variety of baseplates enables you to find the best fit for your beard and skin today and also accommodates preference drift.

Well-prepped, I used my vintage Merkur white bakelite slant to good effect, except I nicked my chin pretty well. I’ll change the blade, and I’m glad for my supply of My Nik Is Sealed.

A splash of Organism 46-B aftershave, and the job is done. A new week begins with a bright and sunny morning. Today I bring out the Nordic walking poles.
