Wholly Kaw’s Donkey Milk formula, here is the tallow-based version, is definitely one of the ultrapremium soaps, which reach that category through excellence in fragrance, lather quality (consistency, cushion, and glide), and post-shave skin feel. I may even have mentioned before that this soap belongs to the ultrapremium category, but today it struck me forcibly as I lathered, as I shaved, and as I feel my face right now. Sharpologist lists Wholly Kaw’s Donkey Milk soap among the best shaving soaps of 2022, and he’s right.
And as I feel the softness of my skin, I note that it is also spectacularly smooth, and that’s why I like Yaqi’s double-open-comb razors so much: three comfortable passes produce a perfect shave result.
A splash of a tobacco-themed aftershave, Phoenix Artisan’s fine Cavendish, augmented with a couple of squirts of Grooming Dept Hydrating Gel, and a very sunny Saturday morning is off to a good start. My Amazfit Band 5 tells me that my PAI, which must be maintained above 100, is this morning down to 101, so I certainly shall walk today, and I have a good new long route. Since it’s sunny and dry, I can use my Nordic walking poles, so I can bank quite a few PAI points (though already they are getting a bit harder to come by — as I become more fit more effort/time is required per point).
