The pleasure of the Monday shave

It’s a wonderful thing that the Monday shave is always so good because it starts the week on a very nice note. The reasons for that goodness are (a) a two-day stubble, since I skip shaving on Sunday (specifically so that I can have a two-day stubble Monday morning) and (b) I use a slant razor on Mondays (and those cut the stubble easily and smoothly and leave my face breathtakingly smooth) and (c) I use an excellent shaving soap the produces an effective lather that is kind to my skin.

Today the soap is Declaration Grooming’s Bison-Tallow formula in the wonderful Yazu/Rose/Patchouli fragrance, and the lather comes courtesy of my ebony-handled Sabini brush. The razor is the French Eros slant, and it performed flawlessly, thanks in part to my practiced hand and calm demeanor.

Three passes to shaving perfection, and a splash of Chatillon Lux’s superb aftershave lotion from the time when CL still made aftershave. What a great way to start the week!

The tea this morning is Murchie’s Black Currant tea, which in fact contains no black currants — they are so acid they would curdle any milk added to the tea (though I drink my tea straight). Thus the tea contains a flavoring from black currents: the “essence” in the description: “A blend of rich, smooth black teas enhanced with the zesty essence of black currants.”

For those following my tempeh adventures: today I am starting a two-legume tempeh: black-eyed peas and peanuts. I include the peanut pellicle: looks better, adds nourishment.
