Dark Chocolate and the L1++ for me

Shaving brush with synthetic bristles with knot divided into alternating black and white quarters next to a red tub of shaving soap with a black silhouette of a cupid wearing a yachting hat and the words "dark chocolate." Next to that is a transparent glass bottle with the same cupid on the label and a black cap. In front, a double-edge slant razor in stainless steel lying on its side.

An a happy Valentine’s Day to all. The shaving soap and aftershave this morning were a Valentine’s Day special from Phoenix Artisan some years ago — quite a few years judging by the soap’s missing fragrance. Although the lather (created with my Yaqi Target Shot brush) was excellent in consistency and glide, the fragrance seems much diminished and, to my nose, undiscernible. So it goes.

I switched the Superslant baseplate from L2++ back to L1++ for today’s shave to compare the two, and for me L1++ is definitely the one to use. (Anyone want an L2++ baseplate?) Three very comfortable passes and my face was perfectly smooth for the aftershave — which, thankfully, has retained its fragrance and brought the shave to a satisfying conclusion.

The tea this morning is Murchie’s Lemon Tea: “the flavour of fresh lemon on rich Ceylon, Darjeeling, Keemun, and Nepal black teas.”
