The Antica Barberia boar brush is better than the Omega Pro 48 so far as its handle is concerned — matte-finish cast aluminum is more pleasing than chrome-colored hollow plastic — but its knot is not quite so good — shorter loft, for one thing, which changes the feel on the face. Still, I do like both brushes, and the Antica Barbieria did a fine job with Grooming Dept Pomp shaving soap. Pomp uses his Donkeymilk formula and has a fine fragrance: “Bourbon whiskey, Dark Rose, Dark Fruits, Dark Woods.” This is an exclusive for The Razor Company, which has a good range of products and excellent shipping rates to Canada. (For Canada and the US, free shipping for orders of $35 and above.)
Well-lathered, I picked up my RazoRock BBS — the stainless-steel version of the Baby Smooth, and a fantastic bargain at $38 (especially considering that the Baby Smooth, machined aluminum, is $40). UPDATE: Price of the BBS is now $70, which seems much more reasonable. I think the $38 price I saw at the time of writing must have been a quickly corrected error. /update
This razor works extremely well for me, and I had a comfortable and satisfying shave that left my face perfectly smooth: the advertised BBS.
A splash of Saint Charles Shave Savory Rose, and the (very sunny) day begins.
The tea this morning is Murchie’s CBC Radio Blend: “choice Ceylon & China black teas, fragrant Jasmines, and fresh green teas, tickled with lemon.l”
