The Kent Infinity synthetic shaving brush is unexpectedly pleasant. The knot — almost cylindrical — has substantial resilience, but it is also surprisingly comfortable. The tips are quite soft and the resilience works like a gentle massage.
The brush worked up a very nice lather from Mystic Water’s Sardinian Honey, partly because I was careful to shake the brush well. Synthetics in general tend to harbor excess water that will flood the puck when you start to load the brush, and a tightly packed knot like this is particularly prone to that. So I shook the brush well before I started to load it with soap, and that helped substantially in make a lather that has a good, thick consistency.
Parker’s (Semi-)Slant is an excellent slant. (I believe their use of “Semi-” is a marketing tactic to ease the concerns of potential buyers who are intimidated by the idea of a slant.) The Parker slant is extremely comfortable and very efficient, but I did not like the handle, so I replaced it with this Yaqi handle. (One big advantage of the three-piece design: handles can be swapped.) Three passes did the job.
This bottle of Floïd is about at the end, but I have a big bottle in reserve. The hit of menthol is brief, and the fragrance is a great floral, spice, and musk combination — old-fashioned masculinity.
The coffee this morning has used the last of my Fantastico Guatemala Santa Clara Altos Dos, and today I’m buying a new varietal for the weekend. Stay tuned.
