Blissful shave

A bleached boar brush with a matte finish aluminum handle on which is printed in black "Antica Barbieria" stand next to a white tub of shaving soap on whose side is a small reproduction of the Bauhaus logo: a black disk on which is drawn, in wide straight lines, a stylized profile of a man's face. On top of the tub lies a stainless steel razor whose gray color exactly matches the gray of the brush handle. On the right, a rectangular transparent glass bottle with a gold cap is almost filled with a light-tan liquid. The front of the bottle has in black script "Sandalwood Aftershave Splash" and in smaller script "Saint Charles Shave LLC, Saint Charles Missouri."

The Antica Barbieria bleached boar brush is coming along, breaking in nicely. It easily made an excellent lather from Grooming Dept Sandalwood Nobile, a Kairos formula shaving soap. The Kairos formula is a beef tallow soap but with quite a bit more, as you can see at the link.

My Feather AS-D1 razor quite comfortably removed every trace of stubble, though it required some extra attention, which indicates to me that a new blade is in order. Still, after three passes and a little extra attention, my face is perfectly smooth.

A splash of Saint Charles Shave Sandalwood finished the shave, and today this aftershave seemed especially good in fragrance and feel. The company is no more, however, the proprietor having passed away a few years back.

The tea this morning is Murchie’s 1894 Select Orange Pekoe: “A union of bright Ceylon and rich Assam teas.”
