I let the Antica Barberia brush soak while I showered, and then enjoyed the bracing fragrance of Tallow + Steel’s Grog shaving soap: “West Indies Bay + Key Lime + Labdanum + White Fir + Rosemary + Ylang Ylang.” It’s a terrific fragrance. And the brush did a very fine job, making an excellent lather.
RazoRock’s stainless-steel BBS razor is a favorite — a wonderfully efficient and comfortable razor, due in large part (I believe) to the extreme curvature put on the blade (cf. the RazoRock Baby Smooth — the same idea in machined aluminum alloy — or the Dorco PL602 — the same idea in molded plastic). Three passes left my face as smooth as it’s ever been.
A splash of Grog aftershave, augmented with a couple of squirts of Grooming Dept’s Aion Hydrating Gel, and I’m ready for the weekly shopping trip: new coffee, ingredients for the banquet dish from Sheepfarmer’s Daughter, and a look at what new produce has come.
The coffee today is still Fantastico’s Espresso Malinal, and it’s quite good. But I’m looking to get one from Bean Around the World: Guatemala Fedecocagua El Paraiso Cooperative, “Earthy, Rich, Chocolate.” Or possibly Guatemala Santa Clara. The former is dark roast, the latter medium roast.
