Musgo Real and Vie-Long

An extremely pleasant shave today. The Musgo Real shaving cream (Orange Amber today) is by request, and the Vie-Long horsehair brush results in an Iberian Peninsula prep today. The shaving cream works quite well, and the fragrance is wonderful.

A note on the brush: recently I’ve read of two instances in which a Vie-Long horsehair brush becomes tangled. I have quite a collection, and I’ve never had such a problem, so I’m trying to figure out the cause of the tangle. I suspect that it’s due to the lathering action. I lather on my beard, and the action is a vigorous back-and-forth; rarely do I use a circular movement, and then only in passing. Back-and-forth is the main action, and my speculation is that the knot tangling arises from tight circular brushing motions. Just a guess, so far.

The razor is a Gillette TV Super Speed: flare tip, vertical fluting without cross-checking. It was so called because it was advertised as a TV special, I believe. With a Swedish Gillette blade it produced a very nice shave with no problems at all.

I don’t seem to have my Musgo Real aftershave, but I do love La Toja aftershave, which continues the Iberian theme. A good start to another good day.
